Monitoring refers to continuous or periodic observations and measurements of geosphere, engineered barriers or the environment.
Monitoring is carried out to evaluate the behaviour of the components of the repository system, or the impacts of the repository and its operation.
Monitoring is required by IAEA and national regulations.
Monitoring results provide information to decision-making at all implementation phases of the disposal concept.
